Baby it’s Cold Outside!

By Forever Films | February 10, 2008

Wow it’s been awhile since our last post. We’ve been busy editing the videos from our weddings last year. I can’t believe how many weddings we had! So, in the midst of being buried in wedding videos, we are also looking at new homes and trying to get our house ready to be put on the market.

We have been getting a lot of inquires about Summer weddings. Unfortunately for the brides & grooms that haven’t booked yet, we are unavailable. June, July & August are all booked. We have also already started booking dates for next Summer.

As soon as I get some time I will be posting samples from some of the videos we have been working on. Until then,  stay warm in this 10 degree weather! Luckily, Spring is just around the corner!

Long time, no post!

By Forever Films | November 14, 2007

Again, it’s been awhile since we’ve last posted. We’ve been busy editing our past weddings and still in the process of filming others. We still have 3 more weddings this year and then we break until January! Yes, I know, not much of a break, but we love it!

But, while I have a few seconds, I just wanted to congratulate one of our past couples, Matt & Amy, on their new baby! How exciting! It’s always great to hear from our past brides and grooms and to learn about the new additions to their families. Congratulations to you both!

We’ve also recently heard from one of our couples from 2 years ago, Stephanie & Christopher. Here’s what they had to say.

“I just wanted to graciously thank you for each and every moment of our film. It has been almost 2 years since our marriage, and we continue to treasure our memories of that day. Not only do we replay our wedding video, but often when we get together with family and friends my mother requests a “viewing” of the beautiful video frequently followed by tears of joy around the room! Our video is a memory, a keepsake, that we will have and cherish forever. Thank you! Bless you!”

Thank you both for the kind words and we are so glad that you are still getting as much joy from your video that you did 2 years ago. We wish you both continued happiness!

Well, back to work!

Rave Reviews

By Forever Films | August 5, 2007

We love getting feedback from our brides and grooms. Here’s one that we received a few weeks ago.

“You and your husband did a wonderful job.  Your services were worth every penny!  As some of the other couples mentioned on your site, we would love to tell your prospective clients how great of a job you do and also how friendly you are.  Also, thank you for doing such a great job of editing with the “microphone issue.”  It isn’t even noticeable.  We loved the DVD and can’t wait to show them to our families.  Tianna’s only complaint was that you couldn’t give her a better looking husband.  ;)”

                                                                                                                         - Jamey & Tianna

The “microphone issue”  mentioned was during the ceremony. The priest was having problems with his microphone (the church’s mic, not ours!) and it was cutting in and out and making loud pops for the first 5 minutes or so of the wedding. The church’s sound guy switched out the mic and everything went well from then on.

Luckily, we had our own mic on the priest and was able to capture his audio perfectly to tape. So now when they watch their wedding video it plays without a hitch!

Lucky Brides of 7-7-07

By Forever Films | July 10, 2007

Thousands of couples tied the knot on 7-7-07. Many couples feel that this day will bring joy and happiness to their marriage and I’m sure Joey and Ashley feel the same.

We had the pleasure of filming their wedding day. They were a great couple and a lot of fun. The ceremony took place at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Fort Wayne. This church is beautiful. You will not be disappointed and if you are planning to have your wedding in the area you must put this church on your list.

The reception took place at Orchard Ridge Country Club on Lower Huntington Road. Very elegant, very upscale, very nice!

Ashley & Joey are not only lucky in love, lucky to have such wonderful and fun friends and families, but they were also lucky enough to have been interviewed and filmed by one of our local TV stations on their wedding day. Talk about luck! We wish the two of you the best of luck and continued happiness!

It’s been a while since our last post. We are in the midst of one of our busiest times of the year. But I thought I’d take a moment to let you know about a new tool I found online the other day that I think is fantastic! It’s called Wedding Mapper.

“Wedding Mapper was built to make it fun, easy, and affordable for you to map out your wedding, ensuring that your guests have all the information they need in order to have a great time at your wedding. “

Picking your Soundtrack

By Forever Films | April 16, 2007

Music is a huge part of your wedding video. One of the most important factors in determining the final product is the music selection. When preparing for your wedding video, we will ask you to pick music that you like and that has meaning to your relationship. We then take these choices and either pick from them or pick similar songs that we feel will work best with the footage. Making the music work is key because it’s the song that dictates how the edit will flow.

Below is a short list of songs that we have either used in the past or songs that we think lend themselves well to wedding videos.

I’ll Be - Edwin McCain
My Wish - Rascall Flats
Beautiful Day - U2
Everything About You - Steve Poltz
Better Together - Jack Johnson
Question - Old ’97s
Home - Little Big Town
Let’s Stick Together - Bryan Ferry
Once In A Lifetime - Keith Urban
I Love You Always Forever - Donna Lewis
Remember When - Alan Jackson
She - Elvis Costello
Crash Into Me - Dave Matthews
You and Me - Lifehouse
100 Years - Five For Fighting
Collide - Howie Day
Making Memories of Us - Keith Urban
Accidentally in Love - Counting Crows

Spreading the Love

By Forever Films | April 5, 2007

One of the biggest reasons that I love creating wedding videos is the joy it brings to the bride and groom. While deleting old messages off my answer machine (something I need to do way more often than I do), I came across a message that I really need to save somewhere. It was from a groom that we filmed last year. He just finished watching their wedding video for the first time with his new wife and her family. I could hear the excitement in his voice as he thanked us for the great job we did on the video, while the family clapped in the background. I must have had the biggest smile on my face while listening to that message. It is so wonderful to know that I have created something that they will cherish for the rest of their lives.

This was the first and probably only wedding that we will film where the bride & groom rode around on combines! What a great time! Check out a clip from their wedding video below.

Be More Videogenic

By Forever Films | April 1, 2007

We all know someone who is photogenic, no matter when or what they are doing they always look great in photos. We can’t all be like that, so here are a few tips to make you more “videogenic” to help ensure that you’ll be looking your best and that your video will be one that you’ll cherish forever.

1. Look at each other - Sometimes the day flys by and there are so many things going on and so many things to do that the bride and groom don’t take a moment to enjoy just being together. Look at each other during the ceremony instead of always at the pastor. Take some time during the reception to just be together and to steal a kiss or two. Don’t get too wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of the day - relax and enjoy it. Spend time looking into each others eyes or just holding hands. No day will ever be as romantic as your wedding day…enjoy it!

2. Facing each other, or even turning to face the audience, will improve the video of the vows and the ring exchange. Likewise, try to face the audience during the lighting of the unity candle.

3. Smile!

4. Let your photographer know that video is important to you and that you expect him to work with us and coordinate their shots and movement. Usually we don’t have many problems with photographers but sometimes photographers feel that them getting their shot is so important that they will ruin ours in the process. Just let them know that we will be there and to try to work with us as best as possible. We will also talk with the photographer at the beginning of the day to work out a few details so we can both get every shot we need.

5. Try not to react to the presence of the camera, even if we are using a light at the reception. Reactions like waving at the camera, posing, or turning away will all detract from the shot, and usually render that footage unusable. Unless we specifically ask you to do something or there is something that you would like for us to record, you should ignore us and act as if we are not there. Mention this to your wedding party as well.

6. Try not to drink too much too early - Save the drinking for later in the evening. You will want to be sober for your first dances, your bouquet and garter toss and to enjoy the day. Nothing ruins a perfect day more than the bride or groom passing out somewhere. Remember - moderation is the key. You should wait at least 3-4 hours into the reception to really start drinking.

7. Don’t chew gum - This goes for everyone in the wedding party. Nothing looks worse on video than someone chewing gum. Keep a small mint such as a tic-tac or altoid handy incase you need one - especially for the first kiss!

8. Keep tissues handy! You’re going to need them! Remember - you will have a microphone on so it will pick up any sniffeling that’s going on from the bride or groom. Also, you may need them to wipe your eyes.

9. If you are planning on having us do guest interviews try to make an announcement at the reception to let your family and friends know. As your reception begins, have your DJ make a brief announcement explaining that you’d love to catch your guests’ smiles and sentiments on camera and hope that they will cooperate. And here’s a tip: if you want to get something more than the standard “Congratulations, you guys! We love you!” from specific friends and family, pull those people aside and let them know you’d like to them to videotape a special message for you. That will give your loved ones time to come up with the perfect little something to say.

10. The most important tip however is to have fun! This day is all about the two of you. Don’t worry to much about what to do and what not to do. Be yourself. If things don’t go as planned, don’t worry. It will all work out in the end. Let us worry about everything else. We know how to handle most situations that may arise. Your video will be wonderful and something that you will treasure for the rest of your lives together.
